HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 17

Requesting the Department of Transportation to rename the bridge on State Route 27 near Fairmont in Marion County, West Virginia, the "Nick Chickerell Bridge."

Whereas, Mr. Chickerell, of Route 1, Fairmont, is a retired farmer and coal miner and served twelve years as an employee of the State of West Virginia; and

Whereas, Mr. Chickerell, who is eighty-nine years old, has devoted much of his life to local and community projects for the betterment of the citizens of Marion County and the surrounding area; and
Whereas, Mr. Chickerell helped spearhead efforts leading up to the replacement of the Everson Bridge on State Route 27 across the West Fork River near Fairmont; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Department of Transportation rename the Everson Bridge in Marion County, West Virginia, the "Nick Chickerell Bridge"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates is hereby directed to forward copies of this resolution to Mr. Nick Chickerell of Route 1, Fairmont, West Virginia, and to the Secretary of the West Virginia Department of Transportation.
